Walter Harper is a technology educator and founder of Harper School of Technology, originally from
Lincoln Delaware
Walter Harper is a technology educator, accessibility advocate, and the founder of Harper School of Technology, where he helps people build confidence, independence, and practical skills through technology.
Walter’s passion is teaching technology to people who are just getting started or who may feel overwhelmed by new devices and concepts. He believes technology education should be approachable, practical, and centered around the learner—not the technology itself. His teaching style focuses on breaking complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and helping each learner understand not just what to do, but why it works.
With extensive experience using Apple technology, Walter specializes in the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with a particular emphasis on accessibility and Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader. He is also JAWS for Windows certified and has extensive knowledge of assistive technology, screen readers, and accessible computing.
Walter believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning technology. Everyone starts from a different place, and effective teaching begins by meeting learners where they are. Whether someone is using technology for the first time, learning accessibility features, or looking to become more efficient with a device they already own, Walter enjoys helping people discover what they can accomplish.
Through Harper School of Technology and his work with Saturdays with SturItUp, Walter brings that same philosophy to the classroom and community: make technology understandable, make learning comfortable, and give people the tools and confidence to do more for themselves.
For Walter, teaching technology is about more than devices and features. It is about opening doors to communication, education, employment, creativity, and independence—and he especially enjoys being part of that journey when someone is taking those first steps.

About Harper School of Technology
Harper School of Technology is dedicated to helping people build confidence, independence, and practical skills through technology. Founded by Walter Harper, the school provides technology education, training, and support designed to meet people where they are—whether they are just getting started, looking to strengthen their existing skills, or trying to get more out of the technology they use every day.
At Harper School of Technology, technology training is about more than simply learning which buttons to press. Walter believes that people learn best when instruction is practical, understandable, and connected to the way they actually live and work. Training focuses on helping students understand their technology, develop useful skills, solve problems, and become more confident and independent users.
The school can help individuals navigate computers, mobile devices, software, digital tools, and other technology while providing instruction that is patient, approachable, and focused on the learner’s individual needs. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Harper School of Technology emphasizes personalized instruction and real-world applications.
Whether someone needs help learning the fundamentals, improving their technology skills, understanding a new device or application, or becoming more comfortable using technology independently, Harper School of Technology is built around one simple goal: making technology easier to understand and more useful in everyday life.
Through Walter’s experience as a technology educator and his commitment to helping others succeed, Harper School of Technology provides a place where learning technology doesn’t have to be intimidating. The goal isn’t simply to teach technology—it’s to give people the knowledge and confidence to use it effectively.
Harper School of Technology provides practical, personalized technology training designed to help individuals become more confident, capable, and independent with the technology they use every day.
Technology Training
Whether you’re new to technology or looking to strengthen your existing skills, training is tailored to your experience, goals, and learning pace. Instruction can cover computers, mobile devices, software, applications, and the digital tools used for everyday life, education, and work.
One-on-One Instruction
Personalized instruction gives students the opportunity to learn in an environment focused on their individual needs. Rather than expecting every learner to follow the same path, Walter works with each student to identify what they already know, what they need to learn, and the skills they want to develop.
Computer & Device Skills
Learn how to use and navigate today’s technology with greater confidence. Training can include understanding computer and mobile-device fundamentals, navigating operating systems, working with applications, managing files and information, and using technology more efficiently.
Accessibility & Assistive Technology
Technology should be accessible to everyone. Harper School of Technology provides instruction that takes accessibility needs into consideration and can help users understand and make better use of accessible technology and assistive tools.
Software & Digital Skills
Technology is constantly changing, and learning how to use new software and digital services can be challenging. Training focuses on practical skills that help students understand the tools they use rather than simply memorizing steps.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
When technology doesn’t work as expected, knowing how to identify the problem is just as important as knowing how to fix it. Training can help students develop practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills so they can approach common technology challenges with greater confidence.
Workshops & Group Training
Harper School of Technology can also provide group instruction and educational sessions for organizations, community groups, and other audiences looking to improve their technology knowledge and skills.
Training That Meets You Where You Are
There is no single way to learn technology. Harper School of Technology takes a learner-centered approach, focusing on what each person needs to accomplish rather than teaching technology for technology’s sake. The goal is to make technology understandable, useful, and accessible—while giving every student the skills and confidence to use it more independently.
Choosing the right technology instructor is about more than finding someone who knows technology. It’s about finding someone who can explain it clearly, understand your needs, and help you develop the confidence to use what you learn.
Walter Harper brings a practical, patient, and individualized approach to technology education. He understands that every student comes to technology with a different level of experience, different goals, and different challenges. Instead of assuming that everyone learns the same way, Walter takes the time to understand where each student is starting and builds instruction from there.
Experience You Can Learn From
Walter’s knowledge of technology allows him to break down complicated concepts into practical, understandable steps. His goal isn’t simply to show you how to complete a task, but to help you understand what you’re doing so you can apply those skills independently.
Instruction Built Around You
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning technology. Walter focuses on the skills you actually need, whether you’re learning the basics, adapting to a new device or application, improving your existing skills, or trying to solve a technology problem.
Patient, Practical, and Personable
Learning new technology can sometimes feel frustrating or overwhelming. Walter creates a comfortable learning environment where questions are encouraged and students can learn without feeling rushed or intimidated.
Building Confidence and Independence
The ultimate goal isn’t dependence on an instructor. It’s independence for the student. Walter’s training is designed to give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to use technology more effectively on your own.
Technology That Works for You
At Harper School of Technology, technology isn’t taught simply for the sake of learning technology. It’s taught because technology should make life, work, communication, and everyday tasks easier. Walter’s approach is focused on helping you make technology work for you.
